I shoot left handed and by looking at the sticky thread on Optics and Mount I noticed that SKS side Rails and POSP scopes are a little offset to the left. Anyone have any insight as to this will be weird to use for left hand shooters?

Will be easyier "I had K31 with a offset scope to the right and as a right hander, it was not bad at all. You just lean your head over abit.

It will be quite inconvenient for you. You may consider weaver style POSP scope with conversion mount (from side rail to weaver rail). In theory it should bring the scope closer to the center. I will make this set up in couple hours and let you know if it's any better for left hand shooters.

mount example:

TeaPot2 is holding out on us. Were is that pic of a posp scope with a recticale ment for the x39 round...
POSP 4x24M
Top recticale is zero'd for 100 meters, middle is 200 meter's & 300 meter's for the bottom chevron when using 123 grain x39. Also the fact that this posp scopes are off set is so the don't get a beating from spent rounds.
Although this belurs model one is GREAT for red dot optics.

it also allows reloading with stripper clips.
Pp. :)

guilty, I should have all this info added to website. I also haven't updated site for variable POSP scopes which I have in stock (2-6x24 and 3-9x42 in all 3 versions - SVD, AK, and Weaver)...Please don't :kickInTheNuts: very hard. I will update it soon. I'm in the process of ordering and importing new production Russian rifles and pistols and it eats up most of my time.

Here is another set up that works very well. These are not my pictures but I have this set up on my SKS. Your are able to remove the optic for cleaning the rifle and use different optics with different mount hold zero perfect.Still able to us stripper clips. This is a Weaver Converta mount that is used for different models of shotguns, does not matter which one you get. I am really impressed with this set up.

Wow Tepot... why couldn't they have made that Weaver mount WAY lower? It could easily sit 30 thou above the receiver cover - not need to be way up there in outer space like that!?!

Also, for such a beefy mount, why not cantelever it out over the centerline of the bore?

Not looking great for us lefties :(

This mount sits dead nuts over the centre line of the barrell as if it was made for the SKS, works good for lefties. If you go to much lower you will not be able to use the open sites and cover and bolt removal maybe hampered

Yeah, I know...I'm working on it...

they are this way simply because they designed for AKish and SVDish rifles Saiga, Vepr, Tigr, they have taller and slimmer receiver than SKS. Most of the world buying these newly produced rifles, hence most accessories are build for these rifles. we are getting 60 years old SKS from Africa and have to mod bells and whistles. Most of the Russian (not only) factories see Canada as 0.4% of a world market with unique gun laws and not willing to produce special things for us. When I asked one of them to make handguns with slightly longer barrel to comply with our law and boldly stated that I can sell about hundred of them per month, they were very puzzled. They could not understand why they would invest time and money to change production for such small order. They produce few hundreds a day...

IMHO it could be a lot lower. Rear sight use isn't important if you can remove the mount!

the website is..suspended?

My Stock sights on my sks seem like they're more on the right side then in the center. Is that normal?
