Has anyone tried the new SKS Magwedge rail, or the Wartak rail?

I'd love to hear a review from some actual owners.

My big concern is the ejecting shells pounding directly into it on ever shot. Does it take this abuse without any problems?

It's pretty expensive for a scope mount. But probably worth it if it's as good as advertised.

Also any comments on differences between the two brands, if any.

After putting a few hundred rounds threw it I can see why the weld in the rear can over time pop and break off. Don't care cause Magwedge told me that if it was to fail just give it to him and he will give me a new 1 no questions asked. Pretty cool coming from a new manufacture. Although that Wartak design looks like they screw down the rear of there rail I have yet to try more than a few rounds we a local shooting range buddy let me shoot it. The Wartak is higher than the Magwedge design and as for the shells hitting off the rail that cloth pad stops the dings. The Wartak one did not come with the pad and did show ding signs but that is all cosmetics. Also with no modification to my rifle I have not had any major jamming. I will report back if I do notice any jamming but I find that the angle diverts it nicely.
 
I was curious about these aswell, I've been toying around with the idea of making a long range(for 7.62x39) sks. With one of these mounts a decent optic, coverting the rifle to single shot bolt action, and of course my own hand loads, and a fancy stock for ####s and giggles

Please give details.

Was it from ejecting cases hitting the bottom of the rail?

Was it while you were taking apart the rifle for cleaning?

Negative on both, Was attached to my sks in transport.
Must of bumped up against something in the truck because the rear rail was pushed down right ontop of the dust cover.
This caused the rear part to become to wide for the dust cover pin, Tried to bend it back in place and the weld failed breaking it into two pieces.
The rear pin wasn't installed at the time as i was going to put it in on the range.

User error, Didn't realize the pin would stop crap like that happening.
 
I tried one out, bought an SKS just for the rail lol!
Love it and recommend it.

I put 375-400 rounds through, with 3 cleanings.

Findings

The good:

-It held zero after cleanings
-with the velcro strip installed no marring happened on the mount (and for sure it softens up any blows from ejecting brass)
-no failures to eject, no stove pipes
-could take some everyday abuse... aka ridding in my truck without losing zero on the optics.


The bad:

-you need to get tapco mags, otherwise loading the sks is a ##### as you can no longer use stripper clips

The ugly:

-the dual torque screw replacement take down pin is a #####,. It can easily loosen up and you can only locktight one side if you want to be able to clean the gun. As you need to pull the gun apart after every range day, using itty bitty screws that are easily stripped is BS.
... give me a good carriage bolt and a lever style wingnut
 
I love my magwedge! Best investment i ever made for my sks ill never go back! Ive put 500 rounds into mine and have about 5000 to go ill let you know how she holds up. The manufacturer is a membet on cgn and he contacted me when i had an issue withe retainer pin. Ill dig thro my pm's see if i can find him.

I agree with the post above. The only issue i have is the rear retaining pin. I ended up using a grade 8 bolt and nut. Never did get the pin to fit even the second one he sent me. The bolt i used will never break so im leaving it that way. Other than that its perfect!

His username is Gothmog. Dave is a stand up guy. When i posted my issue with the rear pin he PM'd me and offered to send me a new one. I didnt even have to ask! Im sure he will stand behind his product.
 
I dislike mine put maybe 2-300 through the gun. personally I think if it was made out of steel it would be ok. for rough service it is no where neer strong enough in my opinion. I can make the rail move atleast a 1/4 in down putting minimal force on it in the middle. way to flexy for me

I had the same issue and solved it with a spring retainer pin. Machined it down to spec and it works like a charm. Can even remove it and replace it in the field with gloved hands. It is shown here:http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...cture-Thread?p=9322407&viewfull=1#post9322407

Other than that my SKS shoots amazingly well. 2 -2 1/2" groups at 100yds. Can consistantly ring the 300yd gong. I love it! And it returns to zero perfectly.
