Ok, forum search did its usual bang up job (no useful results).

Any good light mounts for an sks with wood stock? I am willing to alter the stock but not buy a $100 plastic one.

Buy a magwedge gen3 kwikrail and mount a light off the side accessory picatinay rail, no need to alter the wood stock and the gen3 rail will allow you to use stripper clips and say a short optic or red dot.

Why are some many people worry about altering the wood on a $150.00 dollar gun, if you screw it up buy another one, out of pocket next nothing, big deal. Not collectable they made millions

Because it's not nescessary in order to mount a light, maybe the op doesn't know about this option. No need to bubba a perfectly good stock if it's not nescessary.

Oh and please let us know where you can still get a nice sks for $150 lol.

I'd suggest buying a short piece of picatinny rail and mounting an inexpensive light to that. You could get a knock off of a popular brand or you could do something as simple as buying a small flashlight at your hardware store with a tail cap switch and using a cheap scope ring or an inexpensive purpose built light mount. These are probably your cheapest options (assume you're concerned about cost as you don't want to spend money on a plastic stock). After that screw the rail into the wood stock wherever you like it. I'd suggest predrilled holes for the rail.

Anywhere else than EE and retailers actually. Never paid more than 200$ total for an SKS an never will

A guy at our gun club sold me a chinese one, almost brand new, for 140$. He said he paid 150$ back then, but knows ATM only spits 20$ bills so 140$.

I informed him that they go for 300/350$ online on EE and his answer was: why would someone ask for double of the cost of a used rifle ?!?!

My answet was: because its 2016 ! And then explained the EE effect to him.

We all laughed and I got a very good condition unmolested chinese SKS.

We carry a magnetic mount for lights and lasers in the event that you want a temporary or non destructive option, perfect if you don't want to drill into your stock. We have them in stock for $59.99, HERE.
