SKS loose, How to tighten?

I shim the rear recoil lug and at the front of the crossbolt, if you make the shim at the crossbolt tall enough to grab with needle nose pliers you can shim it really tightly in the stock and be able to remove the shim to take the rifle out of the stock. If you only shim the rear lug it’s so tight in the stock that it can’t pivot out, I generally use feeler gauge stock or spring steel shim stock.

HI, So the factory Russian wood stock slops forward and back about 1/16 inch or a small bit.
What do you do to bed or tighten it up?

The stock has a through bolt, right? There is a flat on the cross bolt that engages a square on the bottom of the receiver. Are these surfaces lining up properly?

I shim the rear of the receiver to control forward/backward looseness. Shim the cross bar to adjust tension on the front ferrule. The end goal is to have receiver tight in stock, but the front ferrule only lightly touches the stock.

Mine had the same issue. I eventually bedded the action using JB weld, and used shoe polish as a release agent. It worked great and was cheap! Accuracyddefinitely improved.

I also used masking tape and play dough to keep the JB weld off surfaces that shouldn't have any.

I believe shimming should be done on the top and rear surface of the stock cross bolt. Depending on the movement of the action in the stock.
