Hello SKS shooter!

Final story, I did quite well, of course I have started with a dremel and I got help from my gunsmith who did some machining on the receiver, I had to reduce pressure on the ar magazine in cutting off a short portion on the magazine spring. I am quite happy with the result, found that Hical is not enough pro-active in helping service after sales.

Did one with a dremel several years ago.
Spend the money and get a carbide cutting bit for the dremel. Cuts through that steel like butter, and won't dull. Take small amounts off and test fit often, it's really not that hard a job. When trimming the bolt hold open with a file go slow and test often. I took too much off which sucked, because the bolt wouldn't hold open reliably. And have a quality small punch, the pin for my bolt hold open needed some force to move.

did you mill the bolt? I need the specs for the bolt milling and did you add any feed ramps?

If memory serves me milling the bolt was a simple process. It just needs to be thinned enough to fot between the feed lips on the mag. Hard to mess up. Hical had YouTube videos on their website at one point, and were rresponsive when I called/emailed woth questions.

I didn't add any feed ramps, the metal XCR 7.62x39 mags I had fed perfectly once I had the inside front of the receiver shaved down to be flat/level with the back half. My mags would not feed correctly until it was shaved perfectly flat - the front of the mag would hit the high spots and tip the bullets down otherwise. If you have access to an end mill that would make that process fast and easy.

As a first time gunsmith but pretty experienced with tools it wasnt too difficult of a job to do myself. A lot of test fitting was required. I needed to modify the receiver, bolt, trigger frame, magazines, Bolt Catch, and the magazine adapter fitting block.

Receiver: Dremel until the magazine sits flush in the receiver.

Bolt: Grind the sides until it fits between the feed lips on the magazines.

Trigger Frame: Test fit and youll see apart of the frame that will make contact with the magazine. Dremel until the magazine clears.

Magazine: The front (towards the barrel) would catch the bolt. It required to be filed down a bit so the bolt cleared it. Could be a clearance issue stemming from a different part of the overal modifications.

Bolt Catch: Needed to trim a little off the face as it would be binding on the magazine a little bit.

Magazine Adapter Fitting Block: Shortened it until it pushed the whole adapter back or forward enough when tightened down so that the magazine would drop free. Maybe about 1mm or so.

Ive shot it a bunch after doing this mod and I love it. No issues that I've run into. Everything operates like normal and the magazine drops free. If I had to do it again, I'd probably pay Hical to do it. I spent a lot of time test fitting and wondering what the hell was going on. I really wish I took pictures so I could write a guide on it. Theres really not enough clear installation guides online for it. The current videoos and how-tos are barely helpful.
