I recently had a conversation with another gun nut about mag limits for semi auto's in Canada.
i have an SKS and have never loaded the damn thing yet and was surprised when he claimed SKS's have to be "pin'd to 5 rounds so I checked mine this a.m. and it is....is this a "law" or just some Karen's attempt to appease a Lib govt for import.
As the mag is basically the same as a Garand,( not limited to 5 rnds) not removable as an AR's or similar is, I thought my 10 shot strippers should empty right into them but they dont.

Here's the regulations: ht tps://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms/maximum-permitted-magazine-capacity, SKS magazine which can accommodate more than 5 rounds is a prohibited device.

Yes, and the 'pin' in the SKS is generally welded onto the follower. You can 'remove' the magazine while 'torn down' and leave it out, then insert 'most' aftermarket "Duckbill mags" if they are empty, OR 'locked-open' OR modify the bolt -see "Drop-free mod" on YT. A good "info-site" is SKSboards com, But its USA-oriented so some things aren't 'legal' here. m
There's lots of advice here and on 'SKSboards' re SKS maintenance and 'tips'.
ALSO Please look at the thread posted recently - "SKS Cleaning . . . " for Critical Info re MilSurp ammo. You MUST clean after using "Corrosive Ammo".

You gotta rack a round then reload the mag ? OR is your 'mag-pin' a little bit 'worn down'? Typo question, I guess.
