Hey guys,

I have had this chinese SKS for a while now and I am just curious about the model. Some features seem to indicate it is a MC5D being that it has a standard type mag release, monte carlo stock and factory 18.5" barrel. The strange features are the lack of a metal magazine well, the type 56 characters on the receiver and the fact that it does not say "MC5D" anywhere on the rifle..Anybody seen an animal like this before? Is this a legit model or a bubba special ?

I'm not sks expert but the lack of a standard AK style mag release with an AK mag just doesn't make sense to me. My guess it bubba special. Plus no bayonet lug and the Monte Carlo stock seems odd to me.

Its not a bubba but a special run of the mill sks for the sportsman in mind with leftover and recycled remnants of the type 56. There is other reasons behind this sks as I'm sure others will chime in. These aren't made no more so they could me in demand. Nice rifle anyhow.

Looks like the MC-5D as reviewed on this site: http://chinesesks.weebly.com/mc-5d.html

As far as it being not marked and the mag well not being lined, the ones we got in Canada have some differences, as the "M" and "D" did as well that would more than likely explain that. We got ones made after the market dried up with the Clinton administration import bans, thus there are differences that the Canadian guns have that the original US imports don't show. However there are others here with more experience with this model than I do.

Looks identcile to my MC5D except mine says it on the receiver, and my stock has a different finish.

No metal in the magwell either.
