as the title says i searched on the forum to try and find any reviews or reflections on muzzle brakes on the sks they seem to be pretty cheap. i know there are "twist on" , "pinned" "bolt on" any thoughts or warnings? another question would be if the gas tube weaver mounts hold zero i wouldn't mind the eye relief just looking at a easyer way then to drill and tap as others mention it scares me aswell. i know the value of the rifle and these two mods seem to be inexpensive and to me seem to be "too good to be true" if this has already been touched on i do appologize

There are those that swear by the BC tactical scout mounts. No drill install there. The gas tube isn't that solid. I've installed a couple of pin on muzzle brakes, that can be hit and miss depending on the rifle and the brake. You could get a good tight fit or one that wiggles around.

the tube mount it crap and will not hold zero well. the muzzle break might look good but will do very little to manage the minimal sks recoil

ya the recoil is not a problem just looking for a better look. gun already has a monte carlo black synthetic stock. i assumedthe results of the gas tube weaver, the rear weaver on the cap well i was given one and i know not to use it im glad it was free. i will most likely stick with the ol' irons now the "bolt on" seem to be just a jamming paired cup i would be afriad of it working loose. they look to be longer and not a bad look just want something firm and dependable i gues i could do a lil loc tight but thats my opinion i would like to hear others.

We find the short pin on brakes give less trouble with loosening up issues, forget the gas tube rail, we stopped carrying them. I like the BC tactical scout mount.

is there a link or a pic of this mystical beast by the name of "bc tactical scout mount" and i see you are a retailer this could be very tempting then a ebay buy.

Don't know about that. I'm on my first SKS after using VZ/CZ rifles for several years. The gas tube on my SKS has way more slop in the mounting than the covers on the Czech rifles. I doubt it would hold zero. The comments of more experienced SKS owners seem to bear this out.

I had one of the dust cover mounts that is "secured" with 4 set screws. It wasn't half bad, but i took it off because the batteries in my red dot kept dying, and they're those stupid 1/3n 14 bucks a piece batteries. The one i had you could actually see the iron sights under the weaver rail and use them.

I had a bit of a fight with a pin on muzzle brake. Pin that came with it was WAY too big for the hole, and immediately bend in an "s" shape when i was trying to punch it in. Made a new mild steel pin that fit perfectly, about .001 interference, and it was SOLID. One trip to the range, 80 rounds of czech surplus, and it fell off. Tried another mild steel pin, but peened it on this time. about 160 rounds, and it fell off too. Not worth the trouble, considering it had a .460" bore in the brake and had no effect whatsoever.

Holy hell why don't you try to take it off zero with a air hammer wow definitly had a good laugh too satain great design for sure 2 set screws do matter, now to quote out shipping and such now heres a question i have the norinco sks whats the best way to get the sight and spring off. i think this is one of the best mounting devices for me, still can use stripper clip and no drilling fancy indeed...
