I've been pondering about purchasing an SKS and I have some bottom line newbie questions.
This will be a "fun" gun mostly , but also as a back-up for deer hunting ( most shots will be well under 100yd.)

What's the diff between the Chinese SKS and the Russian model ....stock length ?
Was one made better than the other ?

Can the bayo be removed / reattached without any permanent changes and will that affect accuracy ?

Thx

The LOP is the same. The early Military made Chi-Coms are pretty well built. Some of the later commercial made ones are a little rough, but still seem to function and shoot good. Not sure about the bayonetless ones myself. I've not shot the "hunter" version I picked up yet.

Get a Russian refurb cuz they are cheaper and from what I seen all in preaty damm good condition. The nork ones are good but for more money and second hand doesn't really make any sense unless you are collector of sks's. The bayonet is removeable but when re-installing make sure to line up the dimples and don't over tight. This will make the bayonet really hard to move.
