SKS oil bottle

Well, I ended up cleaning mine inside and out with paint thinner. Hoppe's solvent in one side and oil in the other. It now lives in my Chinese SKS chest rig cleaning pouch and will be used for 'once over' cleaning when I'm out camping.

I've actually used mine quite successfully as a humiditiy source inside of a humidor.

I've turned a S&B surplus ammo crate into a humidor for my cigars. Bought cedar fence board from Lowes, cut it all to shape, lined the inside of the box, sealed it with caulking so its all air tight. Got a nice little thermometer and hygrometer from wally world, and lastly used the russian oil bottle for holding water.

Its pretty ingenious. I cleaned out both sides with varsol, break cleaner and finally dish soap with plllleeeennntty of water until it was clean, with no smell whatsoever. Filled with distilled water and glued inside to the cedar.

When humidity is low I uncap both sides, when its high I cap them, or leave 1 uncapped. Seems to be working great and its a totally mil-spec humidor now!

i put all the SKS accessories in a bag and never used it .

Me too. Same with my SVT and Mosin accessories. Each in a plastic bag. Don't think I got much with my SVT.

I use my VZ58 mag pouch, that's the only accessory I have found to be useful, besides stripper clips for sks.

I never use mine. I didn't even bother cleaning the cosmoline off of my most recent one. Cool novelty, but I have superior places to keep cleaning fluid and oils.

I would like to see pictures of this please!!

I have a sh*t load of them. Some of the old and unique ones I keep in a glass case, I keep the original kit with its proper rifle, a pile of them sit in a box half covered in cosmo, and I have a half dozen of the newer 2 part bottles actually used for their intended purpose with solvent on one side and oil in the other. I keep these in cleaning kits, quads, and trucks.

I'm sure I have well over a hundred of them, but not just sks bottles. Some are very unique and old. Some predate WW1 and still have oil in them, when they were filled is unknown.
