Hi Everyone!
I just found out paintball fill eats away at the Shellac on SKS rifles. Even with dark dyes it does not soak into the wood at all and leaves all the markings intact. If you want to refinish your rifle this may be a great alternative to using pure alcohol as the paintball fill is fairly thick, does not drip and comes off with one wipe. Takes off all the shellac you apply it to.
So if you intend on refinishing your rifle and want a cheap, easy way to take off the peeling, crusty weathered shellac on your stock, this is a great alternative. Alcohol alone dries off way too fast to remove I find, and this stuff does the work for you and stays on all night.
Also, if your looking for 99% alcohol, Costco has it for cheap. Most shellac flakes need 99% alcohol to mix with for prep.
If you got other favorite ways to strip finishes, post them up!
