Interesting. I mounted a Williams peep on mine. Had to carve a little channel out of the stock to get full travel out of the elevation adjustment. The longer sight radius made a huge difference. These are cheap rifles and are great value for the money.
Agreed, I originally was going to mount a Tech Sight peep for the Remington 597 but that would have meant removing the original rear sight and I like the upper hand configuration of this rifle. Never thought of the Williams.
The williams unit works great but when deciding which model to purchase be sure to get the one with the "low" line of sight. I ended up replacing the front post with a taller post that I made. If you buy the low line of sight you can use the stock front post but you will have to remove the stock vernier sight. Figured I'd share this for anyone interested in this set up.
