SKS Pinned vs Threaded Receiver

As far as I know there are two types of receivers for the Chinese SKS: pinned and threaded. I have heard claims that pinned is more accurate than threaded, as well as claims that threaded is more accurate than pinned. I am curious, is there a general consensus as to which is better? Does one have any benefits or drawbacks?

I apologize if this has been covered in another thread, I searched for it, but nothing came up.

How about a stamped receiver with pinned barrel? It's the top one. Curious what the history is on these and how common they are.

The stamped receiver ones are very rare. I've only ever seen two of them,and at one time they were both mine.

I've had a sh*t load of SKS rifles go across my shooting bench since the Eighties. In my opinion, there is no truth to it concerning accuracy. At this time i own six or eight SKS rifles and one more on the way. There is also stories of a number being stamped on the front of the sights for russian sks rifles, which is also a load of hooey. Ironically, the front sights made on sks rifles are so crude and large that its difficult for anyone to nail a group tighter than 4 inches at a hundred yards. An sks is made to shoot a man sized target up to 300 yards, which in general terms, isn't placing the bar very high.

Like fiddler said neither are really accurate since they were never ment to be, they were made to go bang every time you pull the trigger as long as you have a rounds in the mag, they were also suppost to be cheap, quick to make, indestructible and idiot proof . That's it noting more nothing less.

I like the threaded receiver better, as in my mind they're older and better made.

I have one of each and they are the same accuracy wise.

The old saying goes that anything milled/machined/threaded is better than stamped/pinned/press fitted. Milled trigger guards are also more desirable than stamped ones.
The most sought after by collectors favours the former.
As far as accuracy goes, the best barrel will determine that. Couple that with machined tolerances will give the best results.
When it comes to SKS's it's the same technology.
A badly made barrel won't shoot no matter what it's installed on. Couple this with cheap milsurp bullets and you have 6" groups @ 100 yds.
It really is luck of the draw if you get a tight shooting SKS pinned barrel or not.
BTW, my most accurate Chinese SKS was an older military one with threaded barrel and milled trigger guard. I regretted selling it and need to find one like it.
