SKS Purchase, G4C vs. GPOST

Hi all,

I'm looking to finally drop on an SKS but am pretty stuck between two dealers, G4C has offered a "Chinese SKS Type 56 Surplus W-Spike Bayonet" French Tickler for $799 that once paid for I can see images of; another is one that is posted to GNPOST which is for $850 shipped, that has pictures and is willing to provide more. Does anyone have experience buying from G4C and do they recommend, or do you think the GNPOST option is a better deal considering you can see the actual rifle, also if GNPOST secure? The seller is listed as a dealer and I already looked up the store separately and they do exist. This will be my first foray into the crazy world of SKSs and I just want to make sure I get the most bang for buck considering they may one day be restricted.

great dealer no worries buying there

FML going price on a Chinese SKS has hit $800?...

OP i don't think either of those options would leave you disappointed. I'm not usually a fan of gunp**t but that particular seller seems like a real one, He's also a member here on CGN.

I haven't bought from G4C but I have no reason to believe they're a bad place to shop.

Unfortunately they are both dealers so the transaction will be recorded in their "books". Myself would be very disappointed if I paid $800 for an SKS. They are not worth that much. Back when they retailed for $200-250ish, they were worth it, but not at $800.

As someone that lives in Manitoba and has dealt with this seller personally I have only good things to say about him top notch dealer and very honest about his products.

Name another semi auto for that money... maybe a used 740 or 742? Or a beat up BAR?

We all have a bias because we know what they cost 10 or 20 years ago (I've got a Russian in a laminate stock that I paid $225 for) but that's not really a reflection of the value, it's a reflection of how crazy high supply was in those days.

This is the way all milsurps go. Look at Mosin prices these days. Or k31s.

Also, ammo is not $149/case anymore. If you can find it.

And yet it's still the cheapest centerfire rifle caliber you can buy. Especially now that most semi auto 9mms got banned.

It sucks, but an $800 sks is still one of the best options around if you just wanna blast ####.

Years ago I bought an SKS from G4C. Obviously being a 1950s era rifle, there is no warranty or guarantee with it. I had an issue with it, and while I eventually fixed it myself after a lot of research and trial and error, when the G4C manager (at the time) heard about it, he put me in touch with the North Sylva main gunsmith and said G4C is willing to foot the bill / costs in both diagnosis and possible repair from the gunsmith. That was beyond what I expected, as no one expects any guarantees on a gun that old. Still, it left me an impressive G4C will stand behind what it sells, and I have bought countless other firearms (over 50K worth) from them since.

Further, there are NOT very many SKSs remaining (at least at 'sponsor/vendors') "in the wild" and pricing is at least the $799-ish like G4C has. Tenda has been 'out' for over a couple months now and they were at $600+ish then. I'd sell my FT with only 500-ish shots for close to that - they're listing about that on GPO around me. And I have a Tapco set-up to go with for 'a few buck more'. Might get on EE soon for those prices

And 5 years from now you'll be looking at SKS prices and thinking man I shouldn't have sold them for only $600 lol

^ ^ I meant the $800-ish. I wasnt specific on that post. My 'bundle would run ca $1200 Plus I have a bunch of MS-corr ammo that could go with. Watch for that advert.

That GP dealer ( pictured above) is a good honest seller. I have had dealings with him and he is reputable and good to go.
