As the title says im trying to remove the pin from the rear sight of my sks. Of course it doesn't want to budge with hammer/punch.
So pointers on the matter?

thanks.

Sure looks like a pin to me. It pokes out flush with the rest of the surface.
Edit: I compress the spring but that pin is preventing it from compressing further.

It is a pin, I think I used a small finishing nail to get it started, once it was sticking out I used a set of pliers to twist and pull it out all the way. Iirc it was easily driven out from one side but not the other.

Video has it right. No pin, just a real bugger to get it out. It took four hands and pliers to get mine out when I did it to clean off all the cosmoline under it.

You need to get the pin out to remove the sight, some can be difficult, grind an old punch down to the right size & keep trying, it will go.

What year/country is yours? The rear sight on my '51 russian was definitely not a pin and it came out as shown in the video, but other SKS variations probably do have a few differences.

I don't know about the op but mines a Russian 51 as well, I double checked last night as the rear sight was at hand. Mine has a centre pin that needed to be removed.

Mines 1952 tula.

Its quite obvious that is has a pin. The pic I took has that notch protruding out, blocking it from going down further.
edit; never mind, its out. Drill/sludge hammer prevails.
