SKS Rear Sight Removal

I understand that the sight has to be pushed down and then back.

But actually doing it seems to be a challenge. I want to take the sight off and then drill and tap it for a Weaver base for a small red dot.

Anyone got a trick as to get the sight off easily?

the russian sks has a pin within the pin .

Thank you. I looked at the SKS disassembly sticky. Did not notice the optic one.

I knew I had to push it down to get it out, but was unaware the Russian had a pin to be drifted out.

I was planning to put a Weaver base on the sight, but I see BC Tactical has a ready-made base that does the same thing, except it looks higher.

BC tac used to make a small rail that replaced the rear sight.

Is that what you are installing?

No. I looked at that and I like what I see, except it looks higher than needed. I am putting on a small red dot and would like to keep a cheek weld.

So I plan on putting a thin Weaver base on the original sight arm. The slider might still work to raise the sight.
