I have a refurb 55 in very nice condition, laminate, all matching, etc.
What I have noticed is that after having run about 500 rounds thru it I'm noticing what appears to be impact damage to the rear of the receiver in the aft section under the dust cover.
It seems the bolt-carrier is hitting the two side pieces that comprise the end of the receiver. I don't have pics sorry.
If it helps to visualize the area, it's where aftermarket recoil-bumpers would fit, if installed, the "H" shaped ones.
I'm curious if this is normal wear, the rifle "settling in" (it appeared to have little if any wear when I got it), or is it indicative of misfitting bits.
I have tried replacing the long recoil-spring with another one but have not noticed any real difference.
My next step would be to try another op-rod spring, (the one that lives under the rearsight assembly).
There have been no malfunctions either before or after the spring-swaps, ie fail to feed or fire.
The rifle functions quite well otherwise.
I'm just trying to figure out if this is normal or a leadup to something unexpected and unpleasant.
I'm not running unusual ammo, just bog-standard Barnaul non-corrosive fmj.
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thx
