The old eyes arent what they used to be so I am thinking of mounting a scope on my SKS.
Has anyone had sucess with reciever mount scope packages?
Wht did you like and what could of been improved?
I have read alot about various mounts and the troubles others have had. As Steiner and Calum have said I have read good things about the Choate as well. That seems to be the opinions out there.
How about the short scopes? I am thinking a fixed 6 but varying opinions on the quality available. Anyone have a suggestion on brand names other than leopould?
Leopould? IMHO is is not smart to put scope which is more expensive thet the gun, escecially if the best you can get out of it is 2 MOA ;-)
I have a Choate mount on my Cabin Plinker SKS. It works great. I don't have a shell deflector so the scope takes a pounding from the brass, it's a cheap 4X scope on a cheap gun so I don't care. Hasn't lost zero yet. I can hit clays and soupcans at 100m with it. Works for me![]()

I have the following B-Square mount on my SKS and it hasn't lost zero yet. Mind you I have only removed it for cleaning twice. I have the scope set so that the stripper clips can still be used.
