SKS scope mount

In a dilemma right now about mounting a rail on the SKS. My question is if you had to choose a mounting option for a scope would you pick a rail such as the WarTak SD or a brass-stacker rail. Thanks.

MagWedge Gen 2 rail (similar to, but better quality, IMHO, than the WarTak).

Sure, you lose the ability to stripper clip feed, but you can move to magazines to solve that problem.

My issue with any of the mounts that just put a small rail up on top of the rear sight, is that it automatically limits you to red dots and long eye relief scopes. LER scopes are, generally, more expensive and harder to find.

With the MagWedge rails (and wartak, if you go that route), you can use standard scopes, red dots, LER scopes... whatever floats your boat. You just have more options that way.

About 20-30 people are going to chime in and say "the SKS isn't accurate enough for anything other than a Red Dot" blah blah blah... Depends on the SKS, the ammo you're running through it, and preferences of the shooter.

I thought about it for almost a year before putting together my "SKS Deer Gun", spent a few extra $$ to get a minty SKS, put on the MagWedge, a 1.2-6x scope, shimmed the action... I got my groups down to 3" with Hornady SST hunting ammo...

And when the time came... 1 shot, bang flop, 55lbs of free range organic meat in the freezer.

My SKS has a Magwedge Gen 1 rail and VOMZ 4x32 scope, it's a good set up. I can't seem to get better than 4MOA out of it, but it does have an unusually horrendous trigger, even for an SKS. I'll have to look in to doing a trigger job and see if I can shrink those groups down. The Magwedge rail does still leave the scope rather high, and the stock is uncomfortably short for all 6'2" of me, so consider these things too.

Chinese Type 56 with the Magwedge Gen 1. Shoots 1 1/2" groups at 100yds. Will smack the 300yd gong all day long with Sellier and Bellot 123gr soft points.

Mind telling the story behind the link to the pictures?

Nothing to tell. You can use it easily and even have a simple link to full size posting of pics on the forum threads. Most other image sites you have to sign in and go through hassles. This one shows the link code easily and fast. You don't have to use it for adult pics if you don't want to.

EDIT: Sorry forgot I have Ad block software that blocks the advertizing that would be not liked on a forum like this. I never see it so it looks like a blank, bland site. Forgot it is there for other users. Rehosted using a different image host. My apologies.
