MagWedge Gen 2 rail (similar to, but better quality, IMHO, than the WarTak).
Sure, you lose the ability to stripper clip feed, but you can move to magazines to solve that problem.
My issue with any of the mounts that just put a small rail up on top of the rear sight, is that it automatically limits you to red dots and long eye relief scopes. LER scopes are, generally, more expensive and harder to find.
With the MagWedge rails (and wartak, if you go that route), you can use standard scopes, red dots, LER scopes... whatever floats your boat. You just have more options that way.
About 20-30 people are going to chime in and say "the SKS isn't accurate enough for anything other than a Red Dot" blah blah blah... Depends on the SKS, the ammo you're running through it, and preferences of the shooter.
I thought about it for almost a year before putting together my "SKS Deer Gun", spent a few extra $$ to get a minty SKS, put on the MagWedge, a 1.2-6x scope, shimmed the action... I got my groups down to 3" with Hornady SST hunting ammo...
And when the time came... 1 shot, bang flop, 55lbs of free range organic meat in the freezer.
