I am looking to scope my SKS using a Magwedge KwikRail. I am looking for suggestions on a cheaper red dot, or low power scope.

So far I have considered:

Barska 1-4X28 SWAT
Barska 4X28 Electro Sight IR
Vortex Crossfire 2 red dot

If anyone has any suggestions it would be great, looking for something that is good for shooting 25-50 yards indoors, but can also reach out to 200 yards if required.

Cheers!

A 1x magnification optic like a red dot, is really only suitable for up to 100 yards (in most circumstances). To gain additional reach and be able to accurately identify and acquire targets, a magnified optic would be best.

I have had good results with a shotgun turkey scope. They are set for closer range parallax correction than a regular scope and I like the reitcle for close in shooting.

A 3X scope is about perfect for a SKS. I have had good service from a Bushnell and a Nikon. Both cost less than $150.

Don’t overlook the trs-25, it’s a great red dot for an sks. I’d look at Nikon or Leupold for something in the 1-4 or 2-7 magnification range if you want a scope. If you go with a low power scope with a small diameter tube you should be able to use a low or med ring and get things mounted really low for a good cheek weld.
