I had an SKS. Didn't like the stock sights....and it's sold, anyway, to help pay for a motorcycle.

Everyone slags the receiver scope mounts, understandably. I can't see how they'd be worth the money. . .

But what about the scout mounts, like Marstar has, that replace the rear sight? Are they decent? And, are there any out there that also retain iron sight capability?

And....didn't Millet make one of these at one time? Was it any good?

I'm asking because I'm going to need another deer rifle in the fall, and it's probably going to come down between a Marlin 30-30 which I know can be somewhat accurate with a scope and practice, OORRRR an SKS, which I am unsure about. I didn't shoot my last one very well.

You are supposed to remove the top rail for cleaning but some people have modified them to allow the top hand guard to clear.

There is a notch on the back of it that is supposed to be a non adjustable make do type rear sight but the best would be to mount a peep on the back like this one,

Northman, where did you get it and how much was it?
My eyes are kinda bad and im hoping this would be a good scopeless solution
