A friend of mine has been given an SKS (Type 56) with a bad sear, and he is looking for a new one but doesn’t know where to get one.
If it’s not too bad can he re-hone the old one so it works properly? If it’s not a good idea to try to re-hone the sear, should he get a new one?
If he needs a new one where can he find a new or good used sear?
Thanks

Which model? Marstar is sold out, so try Western Gunparts and/or Epp's. Gunparts, Stateside, has 'em for the Type 45 and 56($16.35US), but the SKS is on the U.S. 'restricted for export' list.
Trying to fix the existing sear could make it go FA. That'd be bad.

Fixing your existing sear would depend on how and where its damaged .
Surplus rifle ( when it existed ) had links to excellent articles on what to do and not do to the SKS sear .
Pics of the damage would help .

I'm curious, what kind of damage? If its just a very gritty trigger that can be honed out but the more you hone it the longer the creep gets. A photo of the damage would help to get you the best advice.

Do an ADVANCED SEARCH of the EQUIPMENT EXCHANGE bits and parts of SKS TRIGGER GROUP. or ask a similar question in the SKS section of MILSURP
