If the kids are running around in front of the firing line, unsupervised, for long enough that they can hurt themselves on a casing they dug out of the ground... that's more of a parenting issue than a range issue, IMO.

i was at homestead range one time and a guy had to rerpeatedly stop his kids from running downrange. he was told to clean up his act after one of them did it while the range was hot. it was unreal.
the guy was a real piece of work. showed up with no earplugs for his kids either. same guy that told me my sks and all semi-auto rifles are restricted.
