SKS sights issue

ment to ask this long time ago but the issue didn't bother me this much, that is till I got the m305 fever and started researching that gun. that is when I run into a comment about under or over torquing the barrel into the receiver causing the front post to lean one way or the other to over compensate.

now my front post in the Russian SKS is almost all the way to the right, this allows me to shoot mpi over the center of the target, does anyone know of any remedy for this?
I realize this is a $200 rifle and not much can be expected of it, but I would like to tinker with it to fix it up, if there are easy fixes and no gun smith wanting to touch the cheap gun.

Well... one way to remedy this would be to use a rear sight that is adjustable for horizontal:

- the Tech Sites TS200

or

- MOJO sight for SKS.

Both will let you center the front post, then adjust for MPI using the rear aperture adjustments.

The problem is both options are kinda pricey. The upside is both offer a nicer circular aperture instead of the tiny notched blade.

I'm thinking of possibly making a third option... maybe.

here is the front sight,

i tried turning the gun any which way possible to see if its off in any way or form. as it is right now it shoots straight with irons, like i said its a minor issue, just would like to know if its a symptom of a greater malady

Hical.ca make a new front sight. Looks like a AK front sight. They have two models , one of them bolts on, so you can move it ...left...or right to get it centered. Would work for you..and maybe look a little better?

The rear sights are just a plate held in with a spring leaf and i have heard they they aren't exactly made to the tightest of tolerances, which is why you sometime see the front sight post jacked all the way over the the left or right. Before you spend a bunch of money on one of the aftermarket sights you could try getting a replacement rear sight and see if it makes a difference, or just try swapping from a different rifle if you have more than one, or if you have a friend who will let you try.

I have tried the williams firesight combo and didn't like it at all. The peep was too far forward and too big a diameter. I have heard good things about the tech sights though if you go in that direction.

Didn't pay it much attention before but it seems the red dot mounted on a dust cover seems to be co-witnessed with the front post

Didn't pay much attention to it since I was thought to ignore the front sight shadow in the C7/9 sights, but that's a optical sight so I'm assuming the same don't apply to red dot

The rear leaf being off makes sense. A little there makes a big difference at the muzzle. If you can't find one close to you rhino, I know I have one in a box somewhere.

Thanks weasel1 and hical for the offer and link
Like I said in first post, it wasn't even aesthetics of this that got me to ask the question, it was more of me looking for more serious issue

I will however get some muzzle brake of you hical ;)

Nah, as long as it's not maxed out to either side and still not hitting on you're ok. Mine is just about full on to the right, but still shoots fine, don't sweat the petty things!
