Ok, I've read different posts people using Tech sights, and also Williams Fire Sights. Which one would be best for hunting ??? any opinions ?? Also, I thought about buying just the front firesight, but I think I remember reading a post saying that was not a good idea.

hey heavybulet:

Dont waste your money for scope especially on the sks. I had scout scope mount and it was fun with a red dot. But I find it a pain to rezero in so I got the techsight. I am so happy with it becuase it doent not cost much. The Tech is very accurate but you have to like using peep sight. Perfect for hunting. I was thinkg of filling down my front sight . never had the front firesight so i dont know. i had them on my .22 kinda fun.

I hunt with the tapco, plastic mag and tech sight. my sks has no bayo lug or cleaning rod. Since i put the tech sight on accuracy is noticable.

Well, my idea was to use a williams firesight for a front sight, and the TS-200 Tech sight for the rear. I like the idea of the rear sight being closer to my eye when aiming, and also like the brightness of the firesight front sight. I thought the two combined would be pretty good. Was hoping someone here had tried that. Why do you need to file down your front sight ???

I have a small 6x scope on mine. Installed a Choate scope mount (drill & tap). It is rock solid and doesn't move, not even 1/1000". Sight it in and forget it. The receiver cover mounts are crap.

Well I don't agree about not scoping an SKS. Mine works perfectly, but I would check zero before hunting. A cheap receiver cover mount bought new and fitted tight works well. I use a 3-9x40 and it will reach out to over 200yrds with good results. I don't know about you, but I enjoy shooting scoped rifles more than none scoped ones(seem to hit more!)The tech sight will do all it claims to do. It is fast and accurate. Comes off and goes on for repeatable, same place mounting. I mentioned in another post about positioning the front sight in the middle of the frnt. shroud to use as an easy sight picture. Adjustment for zeroing is done on the rear windage and elev.of the TS200 settings. With the rear sight closer to your eyeball, it is easy to look "through" and past as you line up the front shroud periphery in the rear apperture with the front post in a 6 oclock hold. I think the firesight idea with a bright post may help but for me its mostly the outside of the protective shroud that centers my shots(circle inside a circle) with the post being the last thing I line up. Plus I haven't heard any reports about the firesight with regards to the fit in the SKS, the size of the post or its adjustment ability and strength.

Great...thanks for the info. I have a scoped Ruger I use for hunting, this SKS will only be used in the thick bush for real close fast shots on deer that are being pushed, I will be only using iron sights. I think I am going to look ito getting those tech sights

I have a scoped SKS (6x compact scope) and it is excellent. I have heard some bad things about reciever cover scoped SKS's, but I've used two of them and they were rock solid. I always prefer a scope for hunting, and I would not even buy a rifle if I could not properly scope it.

i have the williams front firesight and the ts200 rear sight... and i personally think its the best sighting option for the sks... other than the original open sights.

Don't tell me that you found the original sights better than the tech? I can't believe that!
