Should I be worried about slamfires regarding a faulty sear? The pin sticking is no problem, but how will I know if there is a faulty sear?

If you have slamfires AT ALL, this is a serious problem. ADs are bad enough, but if you get an out of battery discharge, you will be up the narrow fecal tributary without a propulsion device. If you can't diagnose it yourself, take it to a gunsmith.

Or if it's a Nork, just buy a new one. They aren't worth enough money to bother fixing. :)

*disclaimer* I don`t know what I`m talking about, I read things, usually get them mixed up with other things and then spew them back out, feel free to correct me *disclaimer*

To check to see if there are any problems with teh sear engagement surfaces, take an EMPTY rifle, #### it, and thump the butt against the ground a couple of times, if there`s a problem with the sear it will slip and the hammer will fall.

I was reading something else about trigger creep, I think it was on surplusrifle about do it yourself trigger jobs on the sks, or on Kivarii`s trigger jobs. negative engagement, hammer moving forward before it moves back to avoid ad's....I dunno anymore, search it on surplusrifle forum or on sksboards

It could be the ammunition used too, I had LOADS of slamfire when I first got my SKS, sometimes, the whole 5+1 were going off in automatic mode. I was shooting Remington Factory ammo, and the primer were too soft compared to military stuff, so the slam of the bolt made the rounds go off.

Never had this problem since I began using military ammunition.

Just #### the bolt, pop the trigger guard assembly out and puch on the hammer to see if its solid or not.....I had a slamfire once due to the firing pin getting way too dirty and sticking in one place. Unfortunately that place was in firing position. After that I dissassembled the bolt (PITA) and gave it a good cleaning....

I had a slamfire when my pin stuck but I bought the spring and now that is fixed. I also let the bolt slam forward and I hit the butt on the ground, but the trigger could still pull (obviously unloaded). I don't think it should be a problem anymore.

Thanks,
