SKS Sling

How do you put the sling on the SKS? I have been trying to put it on since I bought it in March with no luck.

Please Help.

What type of sling is it?

If Russian you need too slide the clip through the buckle side ways then twist and pull the rest through. Its tight but it will go

If I may interject.... does anyone know where to get a Yugo M59/66 sling?

Gunpartscorp they have canvas M59/66 and leather M59s too

Thanks for the info. Was hoping to find a source in Canada. I wish I would have thought to grab one for nothing on one of my tours in Croatia and Bosnia but at the time I didn't think I would ever own an M59/66....

It is the russian sling with the leather band on it.

If this thread is a joke, then why waste your time posting useless crap when someone if looking for information ? All I want is information on how to get the russian sling on the rifle properly.

As for my rusky I loop under the rear of the gun and use the lether strap to make a sort of middle loop wich I put my arm through for controlled shot's

But I can't figure out how to get the leather strap on like you do in the picture.

K, no problem.
Slide sling threw the leather strap then threw the rear stock loop then back threw the leather strap and finally threw the sling metal retainer loop.

It can be a real PITA, took me awhile to figure out how to properly sling my first SKS. Of course, the few beers I had beforehand only increased the difficulty level

See, easy as Russian ice vodka, eh buster! Opening the milsurp crates of ammo are infinitely harder than attaching the rifle sling. Never cursed so much in a single afternoon..Whew!

Unfortunatly I don't have the funds to buy a crate of ammo yet, but I can't wait for the fun to begin.

Guess it depends how your mind works, eh? I had no problem opening the crate, but I too was puzzled as how to get the sling attached with the leather strap...
