Greetings,
I hope to be purchasing a Russian SKS in the next few weeks, and wondered if anyone could link to or provide personal information with regards to stock refinishing.
I have done several Lee Enfields, stripping and refinishing with DBLO, and although satisfying in the long term... It sure is a lot of work(!).
My understanding is that the Russian SKS is a shellac type finish, which I have no experience with, but I would like to clean up / remove cosmo / refinish to a slightly nicer but still original looking quality, of course, with the preservation of all stamps / cartouches.
There seems to be a lot of info on Yugo stocks, but not much on the Russian ones on the 'net, and most of the articles I've found are strong proponents of 100 grit sandpaper!!
Thanks in advance for any info!
Neal
