hey all, wondered if anyone could shed some light? searched a little online but came up with little info, picked up a 54 russian laminate sks today, the stock was punched with this...... XX ###X
XX ###X

i found it interesting as i dont have one with markings like that on it, so i figured i would roll the dice and buy it, the only thing i can find says it was re-arsenalled twice or refurbed twice??? could this info be the case, or does anyone know what else it may mean??? i know, i know, everyone wants pics after its cleaned up i may be able to post pics, this thread is not useless without pics...lol, also if this is already a thread somewhere please guide me as i couldnt find it, thanks

the x's are done becasue when they refurbed it at the arsenal they x'ed outthe original numbers to force it to match the parts of the rest of the gun.

my friend bought one thinking it was the number of kills a soldier had made. we were dissapointed to find out it's a forced number matching method.

also do you see any RNC logos on it? also a sign of a refurb. black bayo? refurb, black bolt assembly, you get the idea... :p Mine are refurbs adn I still love em!

thanks wd123, yeah i mean i dont care refurb or otherwise, i think the X's are cool, mine has 12...lol , my buddy and i joked about the # of soldier kills as well. he bought 2 a 1952 and a 1954 with no X'S, and i bought 1, i had to have the one with the X's on it, my other russian has none, they are way too fun i love em too, we especially loved paying 169 for a russian laminate's
