Sks stock tru/tung oil how to’s

What I can tell you is what I did for my rifle after a bit of a mishap.
The finish was damaged ... who'd have thought that dog urine would melt the shellac on the stock. The story is in the imgur album, but the long and short of it was that I sanded the stock, and then applied a bunch of coats of TruOil and and Howard's Feed'n Wax. I was basically following some guitar refinishing instructions, as seen here

edit - I did eventually refinish the gas tube. I tried to separate it, but I couldn't drive the pin out, so I just used some frog tape to protect the metal.
