Hi Guys,

Im in the process (looking around for the best deals and such) of buying my first SKS. I just found that Marstar is selling Chinese Type 56's with spiked bayonets for $189.00,which seems like the best deal ive come across so far.

Now my question is this. I am pretty sure I want to mod my SKS out at some point in the near future. Being pretty new to the shooting scene, when I go buy a new stock for the rifle, are there specific ones for spiked bayonets vs bladed ones? Or are most stocks universal?

yes there are specific stocks for spike vs blade. i would look into the deal for the russian sks with 1000 rounds of ammo and free shipping from trade ex its 369 dollars. a great deal the shipping from marstar can be expensive especially for ammo. depending where you live could make that not look like as good a deal. i think the trade ex deal is the best deal going right now....if you need ammo. and who doesnt need more ammo.

Yeah thats a good deal with the ammo included! And 1000 rounds should last me awhile seeing as i have 4 other fairly newly purchased toys to expend other ammunition with as well :D

Yea, how long does Trade Ex usually take to ship? Its bloody cold here and I wont be able to shoot, for free anyways (at my outdoor range) for a little bit so it wont matter if it takes a little while to get here.

Now I just need to find a nice synthetic stock for this first one :D

Whatever you do, make sure you keep the wood furniture.
Has a habit of going back on the rifle.

Most aftermarket stocks won't fit properly and will drive you mad unless you take it to a gunsmith to have it properly fitted and adjusted. Also for some reason, a lot of aftermarket stock manufactures think we never clean are guns. I got a Tapco Stock with a 5/20 round magazine for my SKS. It sure looked cool but I had to take the safety out to be able to use the trigger, The bolt wouldn't close all the way sometimes, and every time the rifle fired the trigger group popped out because the rifle wasn’t sitting low enough in the stock for the trigger group to latch properly. Of course, if you have the tools and know how, you can fix it yourself. Still, for some reason the gun doesn’t function the same way as the original and I just got sick of it and put the original wood stock back on.

I got some Russians from them, took about a week from time of order to make it to my doorstep. And that's Montreal to BC.
