SKS stripper clips Y or N

Cut them in half? Whatever for? Have you noticed how much they sell for in the US (each)? Look what happened to enbloc clips in the US, they used to sell for a dime and are now worth a dollar each. I keep mine in one piece, personally ;) Plus, they really are handy, just zip off 5 rounds (I just push until I can't push anymore, then pull out the stripper clip with the remaining 5 rounds still in it) and you're done! Plus, there's a certain amount of badassery involved in using stripper clips, as opposed to just swapping mags  ZIP!!

Fastest way to reload, and just plain cool looking. The first time you take someone out to shoot, they ALWAYS can't wait to jam that banana of cartridges in. Every on from my friends 8 year old to an old high school buddy just love shoving them it!

I've never cut one and never will....

My only disappointment is that the new AIA Lee-Enfields won't have a stripper clip guide. Detachable mag be damned, the stripper clips rule.

Of course if they wind up being shipped with 30 round mags, I'll suffer in silence.

Anyone from Petawawa want free ones. I only buy Czech surplus ammo and have been throwing my clips out because I have so many.

yeah, not being able to put the whole 10 into the SKS sucks. Otherwise, I love strippers! Still having dreams of a nice 30 round mag(that doesn't jam!) and feeding 3 full clips into it, letting the bolt fly and banging em all off as fast as I can...

I love them too, and only pushing five in is not a big deal, still have a couple of old ones for my lee-enfield too, I guard those carefully.

Not using stripper clips if they are available is a complete waste of time. They make loading MUCH, much faster. I keep all my stripper clips and load my SP rounds into the empty ones. And why would you have to cut them in half? Load five, put it in your pocket, shoot, load the other five, not that difficult to figure out.

I do the same thing :D

If you cut a stripper clip in half, wouldn't the rounds not be retained anymore by the little springy-jig at the end? I mean they'd just fall right out of the cut end (unless you bent up a tab at that end to keep them in, or something)? Not that I'm planning on cutting mine in half, I'm just curious

Didn't think about that, but it's true. The ends of the bottom springy-jig are bent upward, so therefore if you cut them in half only one will be pointed upward, meaning they would fall out.

I had an sks-d and didn't know what the hoopla about stripper clips was. my 858 has detachable mags, bolt hold open and a stripper clip guide. I have 8 mags but only use one. stripper clips rule. Now If I were allowed to actually stuff 30 rds in each mag it would be a different story :D
