SKS Tactical Stocks: Archangel vs Choate vs ATI gen2 vs Tapco: Pros & Cons

don't know about the new Gen ati stocks. but I have an older strike- force ati stock and the little tiny screw which just threads into plastic to hold the grip on is pretty budget. laughable really. surprisingly I havnt experienced any issues with it. but if they improved that then I'd give it two thumbs up. but as it stands I'll never buy another because of that alone. cheers

what I did, I changed the hole angle in the grip to access the trigger group pin
after that I glued the handle... and it is awesome, except no storage in the handle and crazy two screws holding rubber grip to the handle

Still I am hoping Magwedge will design the super rail for those who know elementary gunsmithing and may install the rear end of it simple drilling/ tapping
please please:)

I agree with the sentiment except it has already been designed (by crazy Ivan who, in turn, borrowed the design from the old style convertamount by Weaver)

But again the worst of all worlds, in my humble opinion: drill and tap, no stripper clip access, a short short rail, limited scope selection and eye relief issues.

this one has tapping to it-but:
1) one of the most rigid mounts, not as good as choate, but allows it to be removed easily
2) it allows stripper clips

I am thinking about installing a russian-style off-centre rings which allows concurrent access to the iron sights. The lowest mount / ring combo of this type I have been able to find is by molot (sold by kalinkaoptics).

I haven't looked at it closely yet but it appears that this model is designed to be centered over the receiver (if so, I can bend the rings units to the left a bit until the iron sights become accessible.

This one also requires drill and tap (not a show stopper for me either) and if using a molot mount system so it can be positioned really low.

Question: Can anyone please share their experience with the russian style side mounts - how well do they hold zero?

As a continuation, finally got SKS-MW (MagWedge mod) ...
Man, spent like 6 hours milling the receiver, bolt, stock, BHO etc this job definitely costs 250 CaD (at least)
Don't know how/ if it shoots yet.

Thanks to Dave from MagWedge for very useful advices!!!

All I can say is if you haven't shot it yet then you're probably still not done, lol.

These adapters seem to be finicky to get running reliably. Being nice and close to a range would help to. I'm over an hour 1 way to my range so "test firing" while troubleshooting is next to impossible. I hope yours runs well right away, they are a slick little unit after all's said and done.

totally agree with you. tried to cycle , kind of cycles, but very finicky.. no matter what I did, the BHO was always on the way, though specifically followed: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...8-G9-Mag-Adaptor-Pics-and-Installation-thread
will se how it workd tomorrow, otherwise, it will be 400CaD losses, f...

was at the range with SKS-MW adapter-well main issues are due to mags-1 is fine, 2 FTF w/ 10 rounds and ok w/9 and last one is 3-4/10 FTF and it is bowing/ bulging when loaded and front lip is always getting deformed and it is hard to fit it into magwedge-so a defective I guess. Otherwise, mostly positive and, I guess, more or less correct mod.
