Well I have already put a couple hundred rounds through my sks before putting my tapco digital camo stock and removeable clip kit onto it.

Impression of the stock. It has a nice look and finish, not too smooth in the hands to be "slippery" or near that. I had to spread the sides of the stock and push the guns upper assemble in so it fit very tight. THe upper handguard was even tighter, I had to squeeze it down quite hard to swing the locking pin back down. Looks very good.

The magazine is solid looking construction, nothing rattling inside. I loaded it up, held the bolt open on the gun and inserted the mag. NOTE: bolt has to be in the open position to insert loaded or unload mags or damage to the top leading edges of the mag will happen and it will not lock in place. With the mag in place it is a nice snug fit with no side to side play.

The range test. The gun feels similar in weight and I have an original style bayonet lug mounted bipod. I set it up at 50 yards at an left behind target at my range to check the feel and make sure function was okay to continue. Everything went fine so I set up at 75 yards with new targets. This is what I got.....please keep in mind I am a scope guy so shooting iron sights is newand foreign to me.

Was decently happy with that so I did 10 rounds taking a little more care and clicking the rear sight down as it was up 2 clicks and here is what I got again at 75 yards with bulk ammo.

Happy with that I moved back to 100 yards and did another couple clips, wind had picked up, almost double by now to gusts of 40 kph.

To end my day, my son was getting out of school in a half hour I decided to da standing at 75 yards for a change of pace to end the day.

Well all in all I am happy with the stock and magazines performance as well as my own. I know a couple of guys on here are interested in these stocks and mag's so I though I would do my version to try to help out. This was done with bulk non corrosive ammo and I am an amateur shooter/hunter. If anyone has any questions about my setup and anythign I have done just ask away.
Now I need a Norinco SKS-D so she has someone to talk to in the safe and at the range. :D

I have the same stock but in black but where did you get the 20/5 duckbill Tapco mag's? been looking but haven't seen them for sale on site's I visit here in canada. Brownwells has them but unsure about importing them across the border. Last thing I need is RCMP or CBSA bustin down my door to make an "example" of me or my family.

The digital camo one almost never happened for me. I have a NEW dark earth I almost used till I found the camo one, so now I am selling the dark earth with a duck bill mag. I will not sell my remaining mags as they may not be seen up here again for some time from what a couple of suppliers have told me now.

As far as where I got it well lets just say I have a friend that looks out for me when he goes gun shopping for himself. I do the same for him.

i dont think you can import them.they would be illegal as soon as they crossed the border.i heard of one guy who would drive over to the states and bring his drill and rivet gun.he would pin them over there then bring them back.as long as they are pinned to 5 when you reach canada you should be ok with canada customs, but i dont think you can posses them in the states.if you get pulled over on the state side coming back and they see them there come be major trouble.they are pulling over more and more cars stateside every day now.you can bring back 5000 rounds of ammo back and canada has no problem with it,but nonresidents of the usa cannot posses live ammo or powder in the states so you cant get the ammo to the border without breaking the states law.you dont want to screw around with thoses guys down there.they might make an example of you and you end up doing 10 years over something that would not have been a problem a couple of years ago.damn homeland security.

So loading is a two handed operation then. In other words, the mags look cool but practically are less useful than the stock mag. Do they hold the bolt open when empty so you can at least use strippers?

When loading the gun the first time the bolt has to be held open but when you finish a mag the gun locks open and you just change the mag and pull the bolt back a hair to release it and start shooting again. Its not that difficult but it was awkward till I played around at home and figured out a decent position to hold the gun and slide the mag in place. It is simple now that I played with it a bit. I hold the mag partially inserted, the front duckbill in place, the but of the gun on my thigh or the shooting bench, slide the bolt back and click the mag in. When the last round is spent the bolt locks open like most semi's and you pop the mag out and insert the new one with ease. I get the gun in position to shoot, pul the bolt back a half inch and release it, line up and pull hte trigger.

where did you get that stock+ detchable mag kit? Nice shooting, the whole set up looks very very nice!! I have checked out the sites above but they all seem to be sold out:( and non of them have the retractable stock, and what looks like to be a rail system on the forearm. I really want to have the exact same set up but with a forehand handle vert grip!

although i like the looks of mine with the 20 and 30 round mags, when i take it out i usually put the original mag back in so i can use the stripper clips.its just so much faster to load and shoot.
