Hey folks,
I did a little work on my Tapco to get the most out of it.
I decided to try a red dot on the gas tube rail, so I wanted to tighten the whole thing up a bit.
The receiver had movement front to back in the stock, so I used some puddy epoxy to take up the space at the back end. Side to side is very tight so I didn't need to do anything in that regard.
At the front end I used JB WELD to mould the forend to the barrel bracket.
In order to be able to remove the trigger guard without removing the grip, I needed to Dremel out some material from the pistol grip. I then used JB to secure the grip to the stock, along with the screw. That sucker ain't never comin' off!
I wanted the shroud to be as securely fastened to the gas tube as possible. I used JB to bed the shroud to the gas tube brackets. I also bedded the shroud to the stock.
I had to file a little bit of material from the two top front corners of the mag to get it to fit my receiver, a 1951 Tula.
I decided to leave the bayonet off, as well as the cleaning rod, for aesthetic reasons.
Fear not purists, my rifle is 100% convertible back to milsurp specs.
I reckon I'll take it out shooting this Thursday, I'll let you know how it does.
