I have been thinking of putting something on my sks other than the stock irons and have narrowed it down to tech sight rear (not sure if i will replace the fron or not) or getting a mount for a red dot where the existing rear irons are.

I like the tech sights how they attach to the rear, but i don't know how much i like having to modify the pin to get it out, and i am thinking if i need to remove the rear sight anyway to use the tech sight i might as well just go with a scout mount in front of the reciever for a red dot and be done with it.

What have you done to your SKS's for sights and how did you like/dislike them compared to the options.
How hard or how much modification did it take to get them on securely?

And to avoid the "shoot it stock and be happy" posts, i have a second one, 100% stock that i keep just for that purpose, i want the best of both worlds.

Any feedback though would be appreciated

Check out this thread sticky and bore down until you find my experience in putting a TS200 and small front post in mt Tula '51.

My section starts just about half way down Curtton's discourse.

IMO, I think that I have solved the problem of the sights needing realignment after a cleaning tear down.

I like the TS200 so well that I have a set installed on my 10/22 carbine.

Hical in Mission B.C. has them.

Good Luck and if any questions, PM me.

I've tried the TS-100 and it was A LOT better than stock in every way. Red dot will give you faster acquisition, but you'd need a raised scout mount to make it work with an aperture. There was a scout mount out there that allowed you to keep a stock-like iron sight at the back ht tp://scoutscopes.com/sks-scope-mounts/sks-scope-mount-black-anodized/, but I find it to be near-useless (just like the stock sight) in comparison with Tech. Another option would be a Choate mount that would require drilling/tapping the receiver. Not exactly a scout mount and you would need to mod your rifle to deflect cases anywhere but straight up.
