My boss has an SKS which has led me to purchasing one of these before my 858. I have done a search on the board but for the life of me not been able to find info,..

My question is how do you get it to shoot the 5 shells instead of 4 with the 5th still in the mag with the bolt remaining open?Does one have to modify the internals of the mag somehow?

Thanks,

Jason

the "bolt hold "is not suppose to hold back the bolt till the mag is empty , if the bolt is being held back with one round still in the mag then open your mag and check the follower, follower is the piece that the rounds sit on , there is a tab at the back of the follower , make sure it is straight . the tab is what activate the bolt hold . got pic?

To fire the last round, you have to pull the bolt back to chamber the shell.

once the bolt hold is activated , pulling back the bolt to chamber the last round will not work .

i think your problem has nothing to do with the bolt hold .

how often does it happen?

Every time you load 5 rounds with the stripper clip, it always saves the last round,.. like its telling you "hey,.. stupid, you only have one round left, better reload."

nah, doesnt work that way.

next time you are at the range , look in inside when bolt is opened and you still have a round in the mag , see if the bolt hold is activated . like i said bolt hold can only be activated when mag is empty.... good luck.

did you clean the entire rifle thoroughly before using it for the first time?

My first post.

What a great site, the information is staggering. Some of the guys at Silverdale pointed me here. i started shooting paper couple years ago, before that it was hunting only. I purchased a CZ 858 last year and love it. Yes it has had the gremlin but only when i really feather the trigger. Anyway i am confident i cant fix it if it gets worse. I thought i would post in this thread cause my bro bought a sks norco, and first day at the range after 100 or so rounds the bolt carrier wouldn't stay open after the last round. After we scramed i got to thinking about it and it seems to me that the problem must be the (excuse my newbie terms) mag spring is not extending enough to hit the tab the holds the bolt carrier back.
What do you guys think?
And forgive me if this has been explained already cause i have been reading mainly on the 858.

welcome, so its been working properly for the first 100 rds and then the bolt hold wouldnt work when the mag were empty .

sound like you guys tried to put too many rds in the mag and ended up bending the follower arm , simple solution , straighten the bent arm that is below the mag follower and then do a few dry test to see if the bolt hold is activated with an empty mag .

Funny that is exactly what happened. Bro came over and said "is this mag supposed to hold 6 shells". He was loading with the stripper and pushed a we bit to hard. I will pass the info on the fix and to treat it a little more lady like.
Thanks
