SKS to AK clone conversion, is there a comprehensive, straight forward list/guide?

Hi there,
A few members here have some great looking SKS to AK conversions.

I was wondering if there is a thread here or a site with a simple, straightforward guide of what parts are needed, what procedures are needed to be done, and costs.

If not, and someone is feeling generous, can they possibly put this one to rest and give us all the breakdown of what is needed?

With an AK the receiver is the frame/stock.
With the SKS all the parts fit into a stock.

I could imagine that one would need to build a receiver frame that would replicate the AK one in form and function, and at the same time allow access to the SKS's serial numbers on it's receiver.

I can't see how it would be a pretty mod.
 
Would an aftermarket or stock AK front sight assembly work on a SKS?

I'm only asking this because this sks I just got doesn't have a front sight assembly lol, and I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere.

I'm missing the whole housing+seat+post btw.

If I recall correctly, Kasat at one time was doing such things and actually did several, but at this point I belive he has hung it up. I also know Armedsask was working on one as well, but his was a little more agressive in that he wanted to use AK fire controls.

There have been at least 2 threads on the topic, and as far as I know, things are not straight forward, but they can be done.
