I have recently purchased a SKS from Marstar (props for the great deal!)...and I have put 350 rounds down the barrel.
I have noticed that the trigger is pretty clunky. It seems to drag and is not very smooth operating.

Is this a normal characteristic of this rifle or do I need to do a take down and total clean/oil on the trigger group?

Are there any trigger weight adjustments available out of the box?

Typical sks trigger, somes are smoother than other but they are not by any mean precision trigger. There's vids on youtube on "how to improve trigger pull"

The last bunch I've seen have had triggers from terrible to excellent. Well, at least excellent by SKS standards.

Watch the AGI SKS video, then the AGI SKS trigger job video, then watch them both again, then watch the trigger job one twice more.

Too bad you aren't local or we could work something out.

The video's are excellent, and tell you everything you need to know.

The required tools aren't that expensive either. Feel free to PM me any questions.

It's an easy fix if you are good with hand tools. Like Miller said, watch the videos.
If you are unsure of the end result. Lever arms sells Chinese trigger groups for cheap and it will give you a spare sear. They are interchangable with Russian.

my SKS came with an absolutely horrible trigger.

negative engagement, very rough and long pull.

an hour with a file, 1500 sand paper and patience i have a nice positive engagement, lightened and shortened pull and very smooth.
