SKS Trigger

Have done the following many times

Check out this site, if you follow these instructions the SKS trigger will be as smooth as silk with very little creep. The trigger pull will be reduced from about 30lbs to under 10lbs. I would recommend you get another sear and disconnector to work with in case things go wrong approx $20.00.

Get a Rugar mini 30 if you want to save on buying paper targets. :D

First of all you do not send the whole gun to the gunsmith just the trigger group. Second the cost is about $55.00usd if you send it away. Third if you do it yourself it's free and yes accuracy is greatly improved you will not believe it. I will shoot my personal SKS against a ruger with open sights and surplus ammo any time at 100 and 200 meters and we will see who comes out ahead. Treat the SKS as a hobby, you do not have to spend a lot of money on them to make them shoot great just more time then money.......

What bjs7293 said is true. He can hit 10 x 10 inch gongs at 200 meters, 10 times out of 20. He can shoot rings around the Mini-30 (with a good trigger) I had.

That Mini-30 is gone, now have 4 Russkie SKS. :D

More insructions.

Here's another site on the SKS trigger.

I would say it's do-able and worth it. Only read through / watch the instructions thoroughly and start only when you understand exactly what each part does and their relationship to each other.

It's not quite like most triggers, but with a bit of patience you CAN make a very nice, smooth and crisp trigger. Pull weight will still be a bit high (and needs to be), mine is in the 7-8 lbs range.

Those are all good links. I'm going to go through that on a Norinco I have modded a bit. I like the simple but crude Trigger Overtravel mod as well. I think I'll improve on the one below, but the idea's the same.
