lots of them around..if u have any questions about them u can find it in the milsurp sub-forum section

Nope, never heard of 'em

This thread will most likely be moved within the next day or two anyway, but if you look carefully at the top of the Milsurp section there's an entire sub-forum dedicated to the lowly SKS :D Anything and everything you (never) wanted to know about SKS's is in there. Also check out http://sksboards.com, www.simonov.net, and www.surplusrifle.com, they all have tons of info that will make living with your rifle a lot easier.

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know what factory marking(s) it has? Check the left side of the reciever for a little triangle with numbers in it, that's the factory number. Do all the serial numbers match? There are serial numbers on the bolt carrier, the bottom of the trigger guard, the reciever, reciever cover, and the bolt itself. There should also be numbers on the gas tube and magazine, but not always. Do you know if it's a pinned or threaded barrel model? If you don't know the difference, check the pics here; Uberthread FAQ, Simonov.net. Would you mind telling us where you got it from, like what store?

Hope you find the info you're looking for!

Yup read EVERYTHING you can before you play with them...as the first thing you need to know (besides safe operation of course) is how to take them apart, and clean them, and get them back together again.

Also the Butt stocks tend to be rather short... hold her firmly in your shoulder pocket like with a Shotgun (formed when you elbow is up)...or you might get the receiver cover creeping into your nose. :D

Have a fun, and safe day at the range, and let us know what you think. :)
