SKS upgrades: Hical peep sight, and Tapco magazine.

For me, the install was like pulling fingernails out. I watched all the videos. How hard could it be...? It took me two and a half hours, I totally wrecked the original leaf sight, I swore, I #####ed. You get the idea.

On my rifle the notch that the pins need to follow, had a very sharp edge. So the pins on the leaf sight had a very difficult time riding the channel. Combine that with the spring pressure that you need to over come, and you have the ingredients for a nasty struggle.

Buy hey, installing the new sight once I had the old one out....only took two seconds. You tube videos....easy my a$$!

This is why I ask! LOL Not laughing at you! With you...

That rear sight looks great. I still haven't made the swing over to peeps myself yet though. My rear sight on my sks has been filed down at some time so it is almost useless. Does anyone that has done this peep sight swap want to part with their original rear sight? I'd love to get my sks up and shooting properly again. Good shooting, Toni.

I sure like your build. Very clean and simple! The hand guard with the lam stock sure complement each other nicely for that old school look. If I had to say one thing it would be a metal mag,5-30. Think that would just sweeten this build. Keep up the great work!

As far as making the existing stock length of pull more comfortable to shoot I found the extension butt plate from Hi Cal worked beautifully. No modification to the stock needed. Just use the stock screws to install.

Better yet buy a 1" chicom sks butt pad from forum member Mobular, his fit flush, look better and are cheaper.

I have had a chance to take the new peep sight on a couple of range sessions. I am really impressed with how it performs for me over the stock sks rear sight. It gives a really good field of view as I find I want to shoot with both eyes open. Bring the gun up and just focus on the front post, nice and fast.
