Hi Guys,

It has been a while since I have bought or sold any guns, what with the OIC and Covid and the like over the last couple of years, but I digress.

As I have been away from the market for quite some time, looking for values on a couple of SKS pieces. I will say right off that I will not be posting these for sale on the EE. Just looking to trade one of them with a good friend of mine who wants a nice example. And he has an item that I would like to have.

So here's what I have:

1. Chinese Type 56 machined receiver 'with chinese markings' and Factory '625' in unissued, all matching, unfired condition. Mint with all accessories.

2, Chinese Type 56 machined receiver Factory '26' in jungle carbine stock in unfired condition. Mint condition. Mag does not match unfortunately.

Many thanks for your help.

All the best,
Darren

1. 5 to 600
2. 4 to 450

Maybe a bit more??? They're getting difficult to find in the condition the OP states.

I have a Chinese SKS type 56 with no factory code, as new in grease, with all matching numbers and all machined parts.

The give away, is the "Chu" wood stock. I wonder who those were made for and never delivered??

It's very unusual for the Chinese not to proudly display their factory codes.

OP, if you and your "friend" are happy with making a trade, which I myself have done in the past on several occaisions, then don't worry about who is getting the better end of the deal.

That's not what friendship is about.

There may be a consideration if you were talking about thousands of dollars difference, but not for a couple of hundred.

Yes, I believe you were right on many counts. They are getting harder to find in this condition, worth more, and not worth niggling about a few dollars between friends.

I know your example is pristine as you bought it from the batch of 15 unissueds I had. This NIB one is the last I have from that batch, so honestly very reluctant to sell it. Thinking we will probably trade on the Factory 26 as it is not perfect and he intends to shoot it lightly with non-corrosive.

Thanks for your input.

I think the values are reversed, the Sino-Soviet guns were made under the direct supervision of Russian technicians. They were the first SKS's made in China. The jungle stock isn't very common in Canada, there were tens of thousands in the US, but not here - though it probably was added after service as a replacement it's still an oddball.
