What the.... Anyone seen these? If I was local I would be taking a look at these.

More likely a zinc chromate finish than any cosmoline staining. The Russians experimented with quite a few finishes on the SKS bayos. Blued, shiny and matte chrome, painted. I don't think a large percentage of them have it, but I have owned a few of the golden bayos and believe zinc chromate to be the best explanation. The shiny bayos seem to be the best of these with the matte at different levels of color. I think it was an experiment that was soon abandoned, but ultimately there is no for sure for sure.
 
Nice, at least they include the extras with it, I like the price! Gotta sell a few of mine and most places with blued finish seem to be charging more, will help me recoup my money!
 
Very nice looking . it still has the inspectors stamp on the stock . the pictures not clear enough to see if there is any stamps around the cross bolt . $439 plus taxes and shipping .

Around 500$ shipped for Russian SKS. Where are those peoples that believe that Russian are plenty and forever cheap?

These gems were imported 5 years ago or something. I paid 349 I think for one back then. Tons of people here said they were way out of line on pricing but they sold out pretty quick ...lol... Now when I see the current pricing for ####ty refurbs Im glad I picked it up.

Non-refurb and unissued , I kind or regret shooting the snot out of it. Now it just sits at the back of the safe.

I also have one of those really nice SKS with the matte goldish bayonet, as shown in DILLIGAF's and Winchester94's photos above.
But the shiny gold bayonet is something extra special and the rest of the SKS is usually pretty supergrade as well; I'm thinking parade ground.:confused:
 
Picked up one of Weimajack's last "non-refurbed", a gold bayonet letter series SKS' a couple years back - they were going for just under $300 then. It cleaned up so nice haven't been able to bring myself to shoot it lol. See them come up on EE fairly regularly.

I tend to concur that it's from cosmoline over decades of storage. Has anyone seen photo's of Russian parade ground troops with gold bayonets?
