Hi,

I was at my LGS this morning and noticed an SKS that was modified with the pica rail (wartak maybe?). $300 russian refurb, laminate in the consignment rack. Its almost a decent price for a Russian, without having to drive 3 hours to Cabela's/Bass pro, or order online and get what you get.

The issue is there was a total of 2 SKSs that were modded, the other one had another stock, etc....It almost feels like failed experiments and people try to offload them in consignment....

I already have a 1952 BBQ Tula. I like SKSes even if they are everywhere, cheap,etc...

your thoughts? Have any of you bartered for a rifle in consignment? Is there such a thing?

I built one like this (Tapco stock, rail) out of a mismatched refurb - just for the hell of it.

Yes, Ive bought rifles on consignment ('43 LB No 4 MK1* comes to mind), again, just for the hell of it.

Had a Plastastic stock, got rid of it. Action moves around too much for my liking.

With a magwedge/matador quikrail, 2 moa red dot and a wood stock with half decent fit, you can ring steel @ 200 m all day long. Pretty sure the lack of a cross bolt has something to do with the action movement in a tapco stock.

Long story short, with a laminate stock buy it for $300
