Im curious as to whether any companies out there make newer versions of a SKS or more specificaly a SKS that is done with a synthetic stock or done up all tactical like? Im thinking of buying one however im not to keen on purchasing a military surplus one. Any help would greatly be apreciated.

Youll find it more useful to post this in the red rifles forum. To answer your question, no there isnt. Look for a Norinco SKS and deck it out with the vast quantites of aftermarket stuff you can buy for it, like stocks, etc. Do not bubba a Russian, Yugo, romanian or any other type of sks with that tacticool stuff

Pardon my ignorance, but why not the Russian, Yugo or Romanian?

You are certainly right but I think the Cote_b was refering to buying a new recent manufacture Chinese sks if he wanted to pimp it out at leasts thats how I understood it.

Yeah thats exactly what I was getting at. I have nothing against people tacticooling SKS's, but if you are going to, buy a Norinco ( more recently mae ones). Theres no point in ruining a nice Yugo, early chinese Russian or, god forbid the rare Romianian, Albanian, East German or North Korean SKS's, which are pieces of history. Plus, Norinco's are cheaper than good Milsurp ones anyway and your guaranteed a chrome bore.

The only real reason is we dont like seeing nice peices of history ruined with tacticool stuff. If you buy a recently made Norinco, all that tacticool stuff is sure to fit it and youll pay less for a norinco aswell and be guaranteed a chrome bore which is nice if you want to shoot your SKS rather than collect it. I have a Norinco, which I have not modded at all and I really like it. I got it brand new in grease for 180$. One day if I do end up purchasing a better quality Milsurp sks, I may mod this one and leave the milsurp one untouched.
