How come the Canadian government allows the SKS, but not any thing AK..ie WASR's?

They can both be fired in full auto if desired? I don't get it. Can someone fill me in?

SKS is Semi auto only, And your question answers itself Government Beuaracy, Raises the question why we can't have Those Semi Auto FALs either.

One suggestion would be that since there are so many of them, if they were prohibited then everyone would have prohib status and thus get all the other prohib rifles, thus canceling out making some guns prohib because everyone is able to get prohib status.

clear as mud? good.

sks rifles were never made full auto to my knowledge. I have seen some diagrams on the internet that show a full auto sear for the sks that has to be made "at the work bench" but no products that are actually on the market. I got a video from a gunsmith/machinist friend in south dakota that played around with his trigger group and added this so called full auto sear. He loaded up a 100 rnd drum mag and when he pulled back the charging handle and let the bolt fly, the gun began to fire full auto right away. he had not even touched the trigger. the video was entitled, things NOT TO DO to your sks hehehehe. was a cool video, but man talk about an accident waiting to happen!!!

I'm no gunsmith, but Ihavent run across any way to make an SKS full auto. I hear that installing the firing pin upside down(and thus locked forward) will do it. I've never tried it, and I'm hyper anal about doing it the wrong way because I think that fixed firing pin could lead to out of battery ignition, which in a gun not designed for it is a KB waiting to happen, right? Unless you dont like having eyes and all your fingers...

the full auto sear that i tell about can be found on the net probably and involves completely disassembling the trigger group and replacing a vital part with this "new sear". Myself, after seeing my friend down south's video a couple years ago..... it really doesn't work, and is damn dangerous and my friend is gunsmith and custom rifle maker with going on 30 years experience with combat and civillian arms. If he couldn't make it work.... it's a bum steer. I have never heard of putting the firing pin block in upside down and really can't see it even fitting into the receiver in that manner. Another one of those.... things i will never try, right along with crack and walking in front of moving busses LOL.
