I have a Russian (I took it in a trade and REALLY didn't want it) that has better than 5,000 rounds of Czech through it now. I don't clean it every time I shoot it. Have gone weeks and hundreds of rounds between cleanings. The little bit of rust that forms in the tubes or on the pistons is gone after the first 5 rounds. Quick pull the dust cover off, strip off the carrier, make sure the firing pin is rattling, good to go. $20/box through an SKS? All the time? Really? LOL that's devotion. I dunno, maybe if it was a pretty rifle or cost more. :p

But seriously dude, it takes 30 seconds to strip it and less than a couple minutes to clean it properly. Think of all the shooting you could be doing when not buying boxer primed ammo...

I did brush the bore and cleaned, it looked good. the rod and spring were cleaned as well, but still it would not fit back in, i tried the rod from my other sks and it fit fine. The tip of rod did seem to be flared a little, so i did file the tip of the rod very slightly and it fit's fine, thanks for your ideas ideas.
