Hi.Looking at a 1950 laminated stock tula sks.Numbers matching, all original no refurb.pics look great.I don't know too much about them.He is asking 295.00 plus shipping. Is this a good deal?is this a fairly rare gun?Any input or coments would be appreciated.thanks.:ang3

Hi

1950 SKSs had a hardwood birch stock, if the gun you're looking at truly has a laminate stock, it is 100% for sure refurbed and worth about 175-200$.

Btw:not that I care but some folks sure do, this post should go in the red rifles section.

The place i am looking at buying it from is weimajak. He guarantees 1950 un refurb but it is a laminated stock.thanks

Weimajack is a solid guy, have bought from him a few times. Thinking there is a misunderstanding here, read the stickies in the red rifle section and you will see for yourself. A laminated stock on anything other than a late 55/56 is not factory original. It could be all matching numbers but.....

Cheers

Mid '54
OP: It is a refurb if its in a laminate stock. It is possible there are no refurb marks on it, Ive seen that before but if its in a laminate stock then its refurbished.

Nope, pretty sure mid 55.........last of the letter series rifles, which were the last produced in Russia.
The first letter series rifles still had the birch stock.

I've got a '50 with a laminate stock with no X's and all other matching numbers, but as far as I know that doesn't mean it came that way, it just means the stock wasn't previously issued to a different rifle.

The earliest non-refurbed laminate seen so far has been a 1955 dated pre letter series . All of the letter series "D,I,K" came in both hardwood or laminate. The "D" was the earliest with more hardwoods, the "I" had about 50-50,the "K" in hardwood are very rare, and have only shown up in these latest imports.

Seems like we are learning a lot with the latest batches, time to update the stickies?
