For the first time in many years, we've come home meatless after the 2 week rifle season. Mind you, we lost about 8 of the 13 hunting days, 4-1/2 to bad weather and the rest to presence of a large wolf pack in the area that pushed everything around. It didn't help that neither me or my buddy got doe tags this year. He got a shot at a nice little buck but it was a steep downhill angle and he didn't compensate enough so he shot over. I saw a nice big animal but I couldn't get a clear look at the head so I don't know if had antlers or not. So, no shot. The locals are furious with the lack of doe tags. I don't know the stats, but there are young doe everywhere, to the point that they're a nuisance and a road hazard. Hope my fellow hunters fared much better.
